Hi there. My name is John Thompson, and I’ve spent the last 10+ years working in the field of Business Intelligence, specifically in the Microsoft stack. I’ve written countless SSIS packages, a bunch of SSRS and Power BI reports, created plenty of databases, and even developed a few SSAS models (both tabular and multidimensional).
Not to say I’ve seen it all, but I’ve seen quite a bit. I worked in the restaurant industry for 5 years, did consulting for a couple of years, and now work in local government.
I presented at my first SQL Saturday in 2017 and attended my first PASS summit in 2018. I’m very fortunate to have been given some fantastic opportunities, and this blog is my attempt to give back to the community.
That said, I’m also a BBQ Enthusiast and avid Twins fan. So don’t expect BI to be the only topic I write about 🙂
